SCIB Under 12 Report
SCIB Under 12’s began the season with great enthusiasm and with 8 players. The club welcomed 3 new players to the team, those being Zac and Judah Staude and Raf Angeloni.
So far this season there have been 9 rounds. Unfortunately, Kangarilla forfeited against us and there was one abandoned game due to a washout against a Stirling team. With the 7 games played SCIB Under 12’s have won two and lost five in regards to the final score. All games have been close.
Final scores, however, aren’t that important in Under 12’s cricket. It is far more important that the players are enjoying themselves and having fun when playing their cricket as well as improving their knowledge of the game and developing their skills. In regard to these criteria every player has excelled in leaps and bounds in some facet of the game, batting, bowling or fielding.
With individual stats the highest 5 for batting and bowling so far are as follows-
Batting-
Zac has 111 runs at an average of 37.
Archie has 87 runs at an average of 29.
Luke has 49 runs at an average of 16.33.
Judah has 48 runs at an average of 24.
Jeshaiah has 30 runs at an average of 15.
Bowling-
Jeshaiah has 6 wickets at an average of 9.6.
Judah has 6 wickets at an average of 18.33.
Luke has 5 wickets at an average of 14.6.
Raf Taverner has 4 wickets at an average of 11.5
Raf Angeloni has 3 wickets at an average of 29.33.
It is often difficult to get a player to be the wicketkeeper in the game. There is no such issue with the players in SCIB Under 12’s. Just about every player in the team wants to have a go behind the stumps and so far, they have nearly all had two opportunities as wicketkeeper.
Having my eldest son, James, playing Saturday mornings, and wanting to watch him play, I made it clear to my Under 12 parents that I would take on the first 6 weeks of the team and would then be looking for people to step up. I needn’t have worried as parents Chris, Ashani, Matt and Julie have seamlessly taken hands on roles with umpiring and scoring and Darren has assisted with fielding practices and motivation. I will still be opening and setting up for our remaining home games. These parents have been a god send and exemplify the family nature SCIB is famous for.
Games recommence on Saturday, Feb 3rd, away against Mylor. There are 5 more rounds of Under 12 cricket, two home games and three away games. Training will recommence in the SCIB nets on Thursday 11th January at 4.15pm, the same day I return from my Singapore holiday, lol.
Cheers, Shane Wissell/ SCIB Junior Cricket Coordinator.
SCIB Under 14 Report
SCIB Under 14’s began the season with 10 players and a huge desire to go a couple of steps further than their Semi Final loss in the previous season. The club welcomed 2 new players to the team, those being Jett Thomas and James Angeloni. Unfortunately, we lost a much-loved team member in Monty Broxholme who left us to live in China. We all wished him well and his ever-improving spin bowling will be a big loss for the remainder of the season.
So far this season there have been 5 rounds. Due to there being an uneven number of Under 14 teams in the competition, every team gets one Bye. We had our Bye in round 5 just before the Xmas/New Year break. With our 4 games played so far this season SCIB Under 14’s is undefeated and equal top on the ladder, sitting 3rd by percentage. This is a wonderful achievement. All of our wins have been quite comprehensive too.
With individual stats the highest 5 for batting and bowling so far are as follows-
Batting-
Joash has 152 runs at an average of 76.
Harry has 105 runs at an average of 52.5.
Jett has 81 runs and yet to get out.
Charlie has 77 runs at an average of 38.5.
Matt has 70 runs at an average of 23.33.
Bowling-
Monty has 5 wickets at an average of 12.
Matt has 4 wickets at an average of 6.
Isaiah has 3 wickets at an average of 17.
Josh has 3 wickets at an average of 24.
Finn has 2 wickets at an average of 17.5.
This Under 14 team have a big opportunity to do something special for SCIB club. Hopefully, they will all come back from the holiday break with an attitude aimed at ongoing success and we can indeed improve on our performance from last season.
Games recommence on Friday, Jan 19th, home against Stirling Gold. There are 4 more minor rounds of Under 14 cricket remaining, two one day games and two two day games; two home games and two away games. Training will recommence in the SCIB nets on Thursday 11th January at 4.15pm, the same day I return from my Singapore holiday, lol.
Cheers, Shane Wissell/ Under 14 coach and SCIB Junior Cricket Coordinator.
